Organize, Organize, Organize and FREEBIE alert!

Wow!  I'm finding it hard to pay attention to my little blog AND get all my back to school stuff done.  I went in every day this week but am taking tomorrow to go to the Minnesota State Fair with my daughters.  We have a tradition where we go through the Little Farm Hands section.
Here is my oldest back in 2009

 2012

I love seeing how much they've grown from year to year.

Anywho...

My big project this week was re-organizing math stations.  My fabulous team took some this out of our summer to differentiate some of the math stations we created a couple of years ago.  Yesterday we shared our new ideas which was very cool.

But...

I left the meeting feeling extremely overwhelmed.  How was I going to organize all of this?  I have always used the binder system but a lot of the things I made and received were hands on materials that wouldn't fit in a binder.  10 stations a month for 8 months is a LOT of stuff (I do exploration stations for September).  I also had math bins in my cupboard that were organized by topic that I needed to think about (measurement, time/money, number writing, etc.).

I took it all home and sat on the floor last night to try and figure it all out.  I wish I had taken a picture but it was a mess.  I was not having it.  Then, my coworker called and she came up with a genius idea...organize my cupboard bins by MONTH!  I could have hugged her.

I needed something to act as a key for what to put in the tubs so I whipped this up for each month...

I filled in each box (some bins have two items a month and some just have one), printed it and spent the day filling up my bins.  It was also a nice time to go through my math materials and purge!

Here is the finished product!
I am in love!  I put all the copies I'll need for the month inside of the plastic sleeve behind the cover page.  I can just grab it and take it to the copier when I'm prepping.

I added my planning sheet to my TPT store as a freebie!  Best yet, it is EDITABLE!

Just download it and you can plug in your plan.

Get it here.

How do you organize all of your math stations for the year?  I'd love to hear!

I can't wait to hit the fair tomorrow!  I'm going to be getting some of these...
Cheese curds!

Poutine!

And go on this...

So fun!

I promise I'll share more once it is ready.

One other sad note.  I'm not perfect.  Not even close.  I play this song a lot in my room.

A dear coworker found an error in my Write It:  A Year of Sight Word Puzzles :(

I have updated the file and it is ready to be re-downloaded if you purchased it already.  The page you'll want to re-run is page 41.
My apologies!!

Teacher Week: Meet the Teacher

I was talking to several friends the other day and they admitted they didn't know what it meant when bloggers said they were joining a linky.  For those of you who are in the same boat, a linky is when LOTS of bloggers talk about the same thing and then link back to the original blogger.  If you go to that blogger's page, you will see that list and you can jump from blogger to blogger to read about the same topic.  Sometimes you can learn a lot about a hot topic.  Sometimes it is just for fun...like today!

This is a big week in Bloggy Land:  Teacher Week!

Today's topic is Meet the Teacher!

 1.  I'm about to start my 14th year of teaching kindergarten!  I got my dream job of teaching K right out of college and wouldn't change a thing.

2.  I LOVE to teach!  Besides teaching kinders, I've started to go way outside of my box and instruct adults.  This year facilitated a couple of district book studies (Daily Five & The Next Step in Guided Reading) and also taught at a local resource center on Daily Five and Math Work Stations.

3.  My district is pretty small but we have big schools.  There are just two elementary schools is my district but my school has 7 teachers in kdgt and the other has 6.  I generally have 22 kids in my class.  I've taught half day kindergarten, every other day kindergarten and all day kindergarten.  Our state FINALLY passed all day kindergarten for the 2014 school year which is so exciting!

 4.  I went to college at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Early Childhood.  I loved my time there!  This past weekend my husband and I met some college friends there for some reminiscing and good times.  It was fun to walk through campus and see all the changes.
This is from Grandad's Bluff.

5.  I got my Masters through Walden University which is an online school.
My program was Elementary Literacy and Instruction.

6.  I live with these cuties...
Sophie is 6 and going into 1st grade.  Lily is 4 and is going to be in her second year of preschool.

7.  I've been married for almost eleven years to Jason.  We met at college in Wisconsin but we were both from the Twin Cities.  We were friends for a long time and ended up dating our senior year.
This is us in Vegas where we were celebrating 10 years!

8.  I am a morning person.  I love getting tons done in the morning and then relaxing at night.  My two girls are early risers as well, which works out great.

9.  I ♥ to dance!  I was in dance all through school and did a tap dance senior solo.  I still have the dance bug and can bust out some pretty good moves if the music is right.  I dance daily with my kinders and my own kids.  My husband, however, does not dance.  At all.
~Sigh~

10.  I am having a 400 follower giveaway AND a BOGO sale right now!

They both end in less than two days so enter now by clicking on the button!

Come back tomorrow for the next topic!

Five for Friday! August 9 Edition

I missed it last week but am not going to let that happen again.  I'm excited Five for Friday is back!
Last Saturday I met Anna from Gluesticks 'N Giggles!
She wasn't able to make it to our MN Blogger Get Together so we arranged to meet at a different time.  We met about half way at a bakery since we share a love of all things cupcake! We chatted all through lunch and dessert about kindergarten.  We both felt like we could have stayed all day!
If you haven't checked out Anna's blog, please check it out!

We stocked up on some of the bakeries delicious sweets!
I got two letters in the mail this week.  One from a girl who graduated this year who was in my kindergarten class years ago.  The other was in my class this past year but moved away this summer.  Getting letters like these fill my heart up!  I have a file at school filled with more.  I sometimes go through it on days that I need cheering up.

I taught my last two classes on Tuesday.  For those of you who have followed me for awhile, you will be happy to know I did NOT forget my SMART board dongle.  Things we much better and I got some great positive feedback!  Now that I'm done, I plan on blogging about some of what I talked about, too.
I had to laugh a little when I got to the room though because this was sitting there.
Yep.  That's a keg.  I guess there was a party in the room over the weekend and no one thought to take it out.  I thought about opening my presentation with a keg stand but then thought better of it :)
To say this was a crazy week would be an understatement!  My girls have had Vacation Bible School each morning and swimming lessons each afternoon.  I also taught my classes, had a girl scout meeting for my daughter and had to go to school to create class lists.  I am exhausted!
Here is a picture of my two fish.

This week I hit 400 followers!  Click below to enter my giveaway!

And, another reminder that I'm running a BOGO sale.  Click below to see the details on what to do.

I'm super excited for this weekend!  My husband and I are meeting friends in La Crosse, WI which is where we went to college and met.  Go Eagles!

BOGO Sale & 400 Fabulous Followers Giveaway!

I mentioned the other day that I was SUPER close to 400 followers on Bloglovin.  Well, since then, I have reached the big 400 and gained even a few more!

I am overwhelmed that so many people want to read my little blog!  I started blogging and selling on TPT after lots of encouragement from my kindergarten team.  The BEST kindergarten team, I have to add.  They were my only followers for a long time and now look!

In honor of all my followers I am having a sale!
Here is how it works:
2.  Buy something AND look for something else you want (equal or lesser value).
3.  E-mail me at ilovekdgt@gmail.com with your TPT username and the item you want for free.
4.  After I confirm your purchase, I'll e-mail you the product you want within 24 hours.

Easy-peasy, right?

But, that isn't all!  I'm also having a giant giveaway and am so pumped by the fabulous bloggers who donated!  I split it in to 3 prize packs...
