Two Linky Parties!

It is Sunday so that means another Linky from Latoya!  This week it is your favorites!

I love Target!

If I'm shopping for teacher stuff though I love to go to Lakeshore Learning or ABC Toy Zone.   I could really get into trouble at those places!

I'm going to split it up again...

 I love Tim and Heidi!

 Cracks me up every week.

Cupcakes!  Tomorrow is the day that these puppies come out!  I reserved 4 of them.

Check out this video they put out for them.  Totally gross, right?

I love Chinese food!  Cream Cheese wontons are a must!

This is a tough one for me.  I consider myself a little bit of a foodie and I love trying out different restaurants with my friends and husband.   I'd say my favorite experience of all time was when my husband and I went to Tom Colicchio's CraftSteak while in Las Vegas last fall.
The food was sooo good!

I found new Linky today that I want to join.  It is from Literacy Spark!

Here are the rules:
  • Share one thing you are looking forward to during the month of April.
  • Share one thing you are dreading during the month of April.
  • Share one thing that you hope to accomplish during the month of April.

Here are mine...
  • I am looking forward to facilitating our district's book study on The Daily Five.  I've been rereading the book and am excited to get going!
  • I'm dreading that there are ZERO days off for us in the month of April.  I love my job and my students but look forward to having a day off to recuperate.  Our next day off is Memorial Day!
  •  One thing I hope to accomplish is to make some more things for my TPT store.  I have some ideas but need some TIME to make them :)

Now to link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for...
Here are my five random things from this past week.  I forgot my camera at home a couple days this week so it is mostly non-school related.

1.  My little Lilybug turned 4!  My kids are on Spring Break this week so we spent part of the day with my grandma at the Mall of America.  The highlight was that she got to open the Disney store with the magic key!  She was so excited.

They gave her her own little key to keep.

2.  Facing My Fears.  Last week I was asked to facilitate our district's next book study on The Daily Five.  I found out this week that enough people signed up so we start Wednesday!  I am going WAY out of my comfort zone for this.  I can talk to kids all day long and not feel nervous.  Put me in front of adults, however and I get all red in the face and stumble over my words.  After reading Mindset by Carol Dweck last summer, I decided that enough was enough and I had to face my fears.  I am also teaching some classes on The Daily Five and Math Work Stations this summer through Resource Training.  The course catalog just came out so if you live in the area (it is in St. Cloud, MN) check it out here.  Look for my classes on June 12.  For only $55 a class (plus $186 for 3 grad credits), it is a really cheap way to get continuing ed or grad credits.

3.  Hearts for June.  If you are local, you might have seen June's story on Kare 11.  She is a little girl who has a rare disease and has spent a lot of time in the hospital.  All she wants is to cover her room with paper hearts.  My class made some this week.

    4.  Cake!  Lily wanted a Care Bears cake.  I ordered some vending machine sized bears on Amazon and let her go crazy.  It drives me a little crazy that they aren't all facing the same way, but it made her happy.  I got the idea for the sprinkles from Pinterest.

5.  Taekwondo.  My nieces earned a party at their Taekwondo studio this week.  Sophie got to go as their guest.  She loved it and wants to sign up now.  She even broke a board!
I love my niece's face in this photo!

Getting to Know Each Other

I'm once again joining up with Latoya!

This week's theme is the NOUN Game.

I am going to cheat a little and put my family.  I don't know how to pick between my husband and my kids!
I've been married to my husband for 10 years.  We've had our ups and downs but we are a team.

I am one of those people that will walk in with one thing on my list but walk about with a ton more.  The biggest one in my state is a short drive away and it sucks me in!

Can I cheat again and say Apple products?  I love my iPad, my laptop and my brand new iPhone.
We got a cat this summer named Kwazii.  Here he is when we picked him up from the shelter.
He's a sweet guy who loves to cuddle with me when I work on school.

Now it is your turn!
To link up head on over to Flying Into First Grade!

In other news, I am THIS close to reaching 100 followers!  If you would like to participate in my 100 Follower Giveaway, please let me know!  You can e-mail me at

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs for Five for Friday again.  I love looking back to see what has happened over the past week.

1.  You can't handle the truth!  Or, can you?  Here are the answers to my two truths and a lie.

          1.  I met Stephano DiMera (Days of our Lives) once at Target. TRUTH!  It was the grand opening of a Target Greatland (remember those...before the days of Super Target?).  He was signing autographs in the WOMEN'S LINGERIE department.  I used to be hooked on Days so my best friend and I went to go see him.

          2.  I used to have a gigantic collection (500+) of Pound Puppies.  LIE.  In middle school/high school though I had a good friend whose sister had about that many.  She had an entire village in her basement for them complete with rows and rows of houses made out of cardboard.  It was amazing!

          3.  I used to have two rows of a shark!  TRUTH!  I blame it on my dad.  He didn't lose his last baby tooth until he was 38.  I had a VERY hard time losing teeth.  I only remember losing 2 naturally.  So I had two rows of teeth.  It was very attractive if you are into that kind of thing.  I had to have them pulled.  I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.  Not fun.
Way to go Heather!  She guessed correctly and will be getting my Calendar Bundle tonight.
2.  Snow Day!  I made good use of my snow day on Monday but adding some new social media buttons, a Facebook page and a scroll to the top button to my blog.   To learn how yourself, go here.  I loved all the work I got done and spending time with my girls (and the cookies we made!) but enough of the snow now.  I need some warm weather!
3.   E-I-E-I-O!  We're talking farms right now in the Polka Dot Room.  We started by playing a farm animal match game during Morning Meeting.  Here are a few pictures.
Walking around making their animal noise looking for their momma or baby.
Umm...not a match!  Try again!
A sow and her piglet!

Then we read Big Red Barn by Margaret Wise Brown.    Here is the project we did with it.

If you would like a copy, you can get it for free from my TPT store here.

4.  Mad Science!  We had a fantastic program today from a guy named Mr. Dude.  I love when a presenter really knows how to talk to kids, teach them something cool and is fun.  Here he is making bubbles from dry ice, water and Dawn dish soap. My kids were in the front row and loved seeing the bubbles hit the floor.

5.  Daily Five Engagement.  One of the biggest changes in how I teach this year is that I focus on effort a lot.  After each round of Daily 5, I ask my kids to give me a "fist of five" to show me how much effort they put in that round.  They also talk to a buddy about what specific thing they learned or worked on that round.  I love listening in and hearing about all the good stuff they are learning!  I walked around real quick the other day during Daily 5 to snap a few photos and not one student looked up to see what I was up to.  I love that kind of deep engagement!

That's my five for this week!  If you want to link up with Doodle Bugs, go here.

Good Night!
