I LOVE teaching with the Beanie Baby Reading Strategies. I first heard about them here. I bought my beanies at garage sales. The hardest to get was the Eagle since it is a collector's item now. I finally got one this summer! I like to introduce them one at a time. I've already introduced Eagle Eye, Lips the Fish and Stretchy Snake. If you want a fun activity to use when you teach Lips The Fish, click on the photo below. I'm working on Chunky Monkey next.

|Some cuties with their pigeon hats on.|
We also talked Monsters that week. One of my favorite oldies but a goody is to make a monster flip book. Each student draws a head, body and feet on a page. Bind them all together and cut on the lines to create a flip book. I cannot stress this enough! Bind FIRST!) My first year I cut on the lines first and it was a nightmare trying to match them all up. Click on the link below to get it for yourself.
